The quick answer
Choose a doctor or therapist when you need a diagnosis, treatment, safety help, or medical care. Choose a coach when you want a real person to talk with. Choose a book when you want to learn one method. Choose Lumi when you need help now, based on trusted research and what it knows about your family.
Seven kinds of support
Start with five questions: How fast can this help? How much work comes first? Does it know your family? Can other adults use the same plan? What happens if the first idea fails?
| Support | Best for | How fast | Your work first | If the first idea fails |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Parent coach | A real person who can listen and respond to how you feel. | You need an open meeting time. Some coaches have a waitlist. | Find the right coach. Tell them about your family. Meet and practice between visits. | Talk about what happened at your next visit. Help between visits depends on the coach. |
| Doctor or therapist | A diagnosis, treatment, safety help, or medical care. | How fast you get help depends on open times and waitlists. | Tell them what has happened. Go to visits and follow the care plan. | They look at what happened and change the care plan when needed. |
| Book or program | Learning a clear method at your own pace. | You can often start at once. | Read or watch, choose an idea, and turn it into a plan. | You decide why it failed and what to try next. |
| Parent community | Real stories, support, and ideas from other families. | Often available right away. | Sort many answers and decide what fits and feels safe. | Ask again, try another idea, or seek expert help. |
| General AI | Fast answers, lists, and ways to think through a problem. | You can often use it right away. | Explain the problem, add details, and check the answer. | Ask another question and share more details. |
| Routine or reward app | Running a routine you already understand. | Useful after the routine is set up. | Choose the steps, prompts, and rewards, then keep them current. | You review the result and change the routine. |
| Lumi | Fast help based on trusted research and what Lumi learns about your family over time. | Lumi says a first plan can be ready in about 15 minutes. You do not need an appointment. | Tell Lumi about your family and one goal. It makes a plan each caregiver can use. | Lumi checks in. It helps you keep what worked and change what did not. |
Lumi can be your main source of day-to-day help. It can also work with coaches, doctors, therapists, teachers, and care teams. It does not diagnose or replace care from a trained expert.

Books, courses, and parent programs can teach useful ideas about behavior, limits, big feelings, and daily skills.
You still have to turn the lesson into a plan. You must remember it in a hard moment and decide what to change if it does not work.

The family model
Two kids can have the same diagnosis and need very different help. The same child may also act in different ways with different caregivers.

What Lumi learns about your family helps it shape the plan. It does not diagnose.
